De la historia de la mano de René Marqués, nos llega esta historia del teatro clásico puertorriqueño.
Escrita en el 1958 y con fondo histórico de fines del siglo 19, tres hermanas pertenecientes a la clase social alta en Puerto Rico comienzan a perderlo todo.
Pierden sus padres, posición social, bienes materiales, dinero y deciden encerrarse en la casa que les queda en la calle Cristo del Viejo San Juan.

El tema del amor, los celos, el tiempo ( como visión de cambio, impotencia, envejecimiento), la invasion americana a Puerto Rico. El pensar que el invasor original( España) era mejor que el segundo. Son todos temas que viene enredados ,entre las lineas de las tres hermanas, cuando hablan del dolor, victimización y desasosiego de las hermanas Burkhart de Puerto Rico.

They lose their parents, social position, material goods, and money and lock themselves in the house they left on Cristo street in Old San Juan.
The theme of love, jealousy, time (as a vision of change, impotence, and aging), and the American invasion of Puerto Rico. Thinking that the original invader (Spain) was better than the second. They are all issues that are entangled, between the lines of the three sisters, when they talk about the pain, victimization, and restlessness of the Burkhart sisters of Puerto Rico.
